Thanks, Kate! It's "Cold Winds from Ben Wyviss", which I think is
fairly popular (I've seen it on a few records). I love your description:

"The tune begins cheerfully, without disclosing its mixolydian
character, until the...end of the third measure."

The DunGreen collection - which is a superb piece of work which I'd
recommend to any lover of traditional music - also gives the
alternative names of "Forest and Glen" and "Graham's Brook".
