Philip Whittaker wrote to somebody unknown: > I left you some info about GS MCLennan Tunes. Or you could join yourelf; I have nearly finished transcribing into ABC all the GS McLennan tunes that I believe it is legal to reproduce freely, along with what I want to become a complete bibliography of all the others (I might include ABC tune indexes for these in a later version). I think the only tunes I've got left to transcribe are two traditional settings and the piobaireachd lament for his brother. I'm going on holiday for a few days but should have this on my website in about two weeks. I've done this VERY damn carefully with all the gracenotes, the idea (as with most of my transcriptions) being that nobody will ever need to do it again. (In one place I have to anticipate an ABC construct that doesn't presently exist). Was Philip's correspondent the person asking for "Captain C.R. Lumsden"? That one's in. But I'm not posting individual tunes from this until I'm done. Anybody know where GS's manuscripts are? The National Library of Scotland has his private print and MS library of other people's music, but not many of his own compositions, e.g. they don't have the material used for the Gordon Highlanders books. Philip, what is the state of the Calvert project? Can you email all of us participating with a consolidated copy of what you know has been done so far? The present lack of communication has meant that Nigel and I have independently transcribed the same things. =================== <http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/> =================== Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
