Yes, I was very impressed by his cello playing. He can knock a tune out
of the mandolin, guitar and whistle too, but it was the cello that
added most to the sound.

There were some great harmonies.

But none the worse for that. If she'd tried to be flashy she would have
fallen flat, but the gentle backing she provided was just enough.

Johnny Cradden (an Ulster-born Edinburgh man) adapted a guitar like
this some years ago and called it a "Gizouki". The one that Tantallon
had has obviously been specially made. John Bushby, the guy who mostly
played it in Tantallon, makes instruments so it may have been his own
design, influenced by Cradden, possibly?
