Yes, I was very impressed by his cello playing. He can knock a tune out of the mandolin, guitar and whistle too, but it was the cello that added most to the sound. > They're also very good at group unaccompanied singing. If she'd tried to be flashy she would have fallen flat, but the gentle backing she provided was just enough. > What kind of guitar was it they were mostly using? Johnny Cradden (an Ulster-born Edinburgh man) adapted a guitar like this some years ago and called it a "Gizouki". The one that Tantallon had has obviously been specially made. John Bushby, the guy who mostly played it in Tantallon, makes instruments so it may have been his own design, influenced by Cradden, possibly? -- Nigel Gatherer, Crieff, Scotland [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.argonet.co.uk/users/gatherer/ Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
