Derek Moffat of The McCalmans folk group has been suffering from lung cancer in an advanced state, and has been in hospital with a tube in his chest to help him breathe. He apparently kept in good spirits nevertheless: I hear that recently he laughed so hard at something a visitor told him that the tube broke and had to be replaced. It was announced on the radio a few minutes ago that he has just died.
