Niel Gow, "the father of strathspey & reel players" was born 275 years
ago today at Inver near Dunkeld. There is no doubt that Gow made a huge
impact on Scottish music, and his name was known throughout Scotland in
his lifetime, and celebrated after his death by a serious of apocryphal
stories.
