Being at my stall most of the weekend, the only recital I got to was Bruce Molsky's; I'd heard him a couple of years ago. I didn't like this one as much: he was more relaxed in the earlier one and told more stories about what he was playing - this time he seemed to be trying to cram as many notes in as possible. He said he was jetlagged/ short of sleep in his intro, and the way his act was put together sounded like it.
Which I can identify with because I tried to cram far too much into my talk and ended up dropping large chunks of necessary exposition near the end... oh well, if you've got the CD-ROM you'll be able to fill in the missing bits where I was talking about Miss Gordon of Gight. (The ones I omitted in a more planned way were an attempt to get into the mind and musical world of the misogynist weirdo who wrote the broadsides on Mary McKinnon; a sort of musical equivalent of serial-killer profiling). =================== <http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/> =================== Posted to Scots-L - The Traditional Scottish Music & Culture List - To subscribe/unsubscribe, point your browser to: http://www.tullochgorm.com/lists.html
