I'm looking for a portrait or likeness of Nathaniel Gow, and have had little luck with the net or in the books I own. I know that one was painted of him by John Syme of Edinburgh (who also painted a rather famous portrait of John James Audobon, when the latter was in Britain trying to raise funds for publication of his collection of North American bird paintings). It evidently ended up in the possession of his daughter Jessie (Gow) Luke after Nathaniel's death. Does anyone know where this portrait is now, or if there are any other paintings of him?
