I wouldn't put it like that. However, Steve's talking about making a
one-off copy for his own use which, having purchased the original book,
he should do without any guilt. 

As for copyright, Fiddlecase Books got hold of original copies of the
Marshall books, took time to copy them, spent time and money getting
the artwork done, getting them printed, and marketing them. Anybody
else could do the same thing, but they could not make copies of the
Fiddlecase book and then re-sell them; that's where their copyright
lies.
