I've got some problems getting pop3 (or imap, for that matter) to respond
through inetd. I'm running Mandrake 7.2. The inetd.conf file has an entry
that looks like:

pop-3 stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/tcpd ipop3d

The services file has an entry that looks like:

pop3 110/tcp pop-3

I've been running inetd in debug mode to see its status. It is responding
properly to a telnet on port 110--that is, it claims it's forwarding the
request on to pop3.

I've double checked to ensure that ipop3d is indeed in /usr/sbin. But
nothing ever responds. After about 5 seconds the request times out.

Any ideas what's going on? Could it have anything to do with a failing tcpd?
 Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
