Hi

I assume the WINS server workgroup name is the same as the NT domain name ??
If not then it may not work.
Previously we had problems with remote users browsing, but fixed it by
setting their workgroup name to the domain name.

Hi,

we are having problems trying to get a laptop logged into
out NT domain via a VPN connection. We are almost there but
running out of time and may require some consultancy to get
this sorted.

The details are below:

LAN: win95, several workgroups
win nt 4 PDC which win95 pcs login to
a few samba servers providing file sharing and
master browsers and a wins server
WAN: subnet in dublin

Firewall: NAI gauntlet e-ppliance firewall with their VPN
          s/w: pgp net v7.

remote users: laptop win98.

Our internal network is ok, we can cross subnet-browse etc
The firewall vpn config has dns/wins configured.
When the vpn is established, IP traffic is ok.
We were able get the laptop to log into the NT domain and browse all
the workgroups but would loose the browse lists. I then read that
the laptops should be a member of the same worgroup that the wins server
is in. Changed this but cant see the NT domain yet the nt server is
synchronizing with the wins server.

So, we really need someone who fully understands NT/win9x networking and
samba.

Any offers?
We are in Glasgow city centre (Scottish Legal Life)
