I think I'll bring my PC along, it looks set to be a good event.

Thanks for all the help

I haven't tried installing alongside Windows ME, but with 95, 98 its been
no problem. I've also installed alongside NT running off a FAT partition
without any problems using the Linux boot loader (lilo) - both RedHat and
Mandrake have spotted the existing OS and set it up in lilo.conf during
install. Running alongside an NT on NTFS installation is a bit more tricky
as (AFAIK) lilo won't boot an OS from NTFS, but the NT loader can be
convinced to start Linux as well.

If you've already set aside the space on your disk, then that's a lot of
the battle won already. Life's a bit simpler if you set up seperate swap
(at least the same size as your physical memory), root (whatever's left,
roughlt 600Mb min, say 1.5Mb for a comprehensive install) and home (say
60Mb?) partitions. You can do all this when you run the installation for
Suse / RedHat / Mandrake /.... all you need to to do is tell your computer
bios to boot from the CDROM, pop in the CD & reboot.

Of course, you could just bring your PC along to the installday in Stirling
on June 10th ;)
