Hi All,
I am thinking of buying of buying a digital camera in the near future and I
am looking for any recommendation for both the make/model and a shop to buy
it in (physical or online).
The camera would be fairly general purpose with varied usage, but probably
nothing exceptional. My priority would be clarity of colour, good lens and
a reasonable resolution. Other things like battery life etc... are also
quite important, basically I'm looking for a good all rounder, slightly
above entry level (I've been using 35mm SLR since I was a 15, so I can
handle more than point-and-shoot) but less than around 260 (but if there
is something a little more but better value I am flexible).
Good connectivity to Linux would be a significant bonus, but I could live
without it if there were other factors that made the camera better.
This will be my first digital camera, hence the lowish price range and I
know that my 35mm SLR will beat it hands down, but for obvious reasons the
digital camera has its advantages.
To sum up I'm looking for a good value, general purpose digital camera. I
want it to take good quality (good colour, high resolution, low distortion
etc...) photos in as wide a range of reasonable conditions (light level,
distance from object etc...) possible. MP3 playing and movie facilities are
pretty much useless to me.
Thanks in advance,
Steven.
