First, thanks to people for their suggestions about how best to get my
video card running on Suse 7.0. I decided trying a later / different distro
was the best idea, and I've now got Mandrake 8.0 installed and running
reasonably well, although I've still some tweaking to do. (Suse 7.1 was bit
sniffy about my mouse, despite it being a standard M$ PS/2 wheel mouse).

My next question is: how easy is it to install the various bits of software
which came with Suse on a Mandrake system? Is it simpler (for a newbie) to
install the newer (Mandrake) distro and then add on the files from the
older version, or to install the older version first and then update it
with the relevant parts of the older system? Or should I simply cut my
losses and buy the full Mandrake 8.0 boxed set?
