I'm wondering whether it's worth my while trying to patch this XP setup
here. I'm running build 2535 and the patch can only be installed on
2600. Whenever I attempt to "upgrade" to 2600, setup tells me that no
valid partitions exist - probably down to my kinky boot setup.

Grrrr @ MS (again)

Does anyone know how UPnP plays on networks? Is it routed or is it just
an extension of SMB?? If not, what ports does it spew over??

<Afterthought> I disabled it anyway, after I installed everything and
went through the services list to the tune of "What can I kill here?"
Ach well...

A Microsoft official acknowledged that the risk to consumers was
unprecedented because the glitches allow hackers to seize control of all

Windows XP operating system software without requiring a computer user
to do
anything except connect to the Internet.
Microsoft made available on its Web site a free fix for both home and
professional editions of Windows XP and forcefully urged consumers to
install
it immediately.
