As I stated at a previous meeting I'm willing to set up a games network for our Convention this year.
Most recently I've been involved in setting up servers for Half-life mods Counter-strike and Day of Defeat, Quake 3, Unreal Tournament and Wolfenstein. I would therefore look to setup something along those lines. I have sufficient hardware to provide a games server, and possibly one client machine. However, I think we'd want to have 3-4 clients minimum to make it worth our while. (It may be primarily for demonstration purposes, but we need to have some fun as well.) So, assuming we can decide on a a definite date and location for this event, offers of equipment to supplement mine would be most welcome. My main problem is that my network is co-ax and I don't have a hub, so that and cat5 cabling would probably be a requirement also. I also am prepared to give a talk on setting up a games server, when there's a free slot at a future meeting. -- gav -------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.lug.org.uk http://www.linuxportal.co.uk http://www.linuxjob.co.uk http://www.linuxshop.co.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------
