According to the site they use a VSAT model 360 Satellite modem, a USB device - in fact it's the same one used by Starband.
I doubt that you could find USB drivers to get the blighter running under Linux, but a memory stirs - /. last Jan http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=01/01/08/2253216&mode=thread Although this is the older 180 model of the modem, one wonders if it has the same "feature" or perhaps the 360 is merely the 180 with the 10BaseT interface removed. Thankfully not ;-) The "Skyblaster 360" as it's manufacturers call it has a 10baseT interface, so things are starting to look good. You still need a Microshaft Winblows USB machine to set it up, but *should* be able to hang it of a linux router with an X-over cable. http://www.gilat.com/Products_SkyBlaster_TechnicalSpecs.asp HTH, Ian -----Original Message----- From: John Hallam [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: 07 February 2002 09:11 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [scottish] high speed internet anyone It only works for Windows, according to its documentation -- if it is the same as Starband in the US, and on the same conditions, the Acceptable Use Policy prohibits direct connection of anything other than a Windows PC running their acceleration software to the satellite modem; it prohibits lots of other things too.
