Hi there, Well thats called a quick response!!
For some reason my rc.local was not executable - was yesterday but there we are. I did not realise thaqt there was a S99local as well so I have learned a bit more. The machine is rebooting now with corrected permissions .... And that has worked - thank you Pual. Darren, thanks for the reply. Yes I do use up-2-date but tend to compile all my services and apps from source rather than just letting RPM do all the work. I am just learning so I think this is the best approach. I do use it to update the libraries and stuff like that but only very occassionally when a security issue threatens my wee setup!! Thanks to both, best wishes Mike > Check your /etc/rc.d/rc<default init level>.d directory. It should have a > S99local (or something similar) that starts the rc.local as the last > thing.
