for those of you who don't read /. on a regular basis, I thought it might be useful to note the following story (http://slashdot.org/articles/02/05/29/1158216.shtml?tid=163)
eWeek is reporting that a number of Linux vendors will announce on Thursday (http://www.eweek.com/article/0,3658,s=701&a=27405,00.asp) that they have agreed to standardize on a single Linux distribution to try and take on Red Hat's dominance in the industry. " The vendors in question are SuSe , Caldera, Conectiva, and Turbolinux. However, as the article also points out - Red Hat has a very well established lead in the corporate market - and Sun's decision to create Yet Another Linux Distribution This could have some baring on the "which distro" topic that has often rears its head on the mailing list.
