Hi Folks

I have mandrake installed, and have been using a lot of cooker software
recently, which is not advised as it is experimental. As far as backups I had
none. (Is this a familiar story)

So I thought Iw could make a back up. Which would simply consist of my
home/Phil dir as that is where everything is kept. I was not too worried
about installed programs as I could just reinstall them easily enough.

I have a 40GB drive which has a 20 GB WinXP partition and 20GB devoted to
Linux, and also a small 2.6GB drive which is not used for anything, so I
thought I would copy across my home directory, which didn't work as it first
said it already had a Mail dir and then a few more errors, thinking if did
not have enough space for the 2.6GB drive, I tried it on the other, but got
the same errors. So I thought I would just delete them from the partition and
maybe try Tarring the folder instead.

I had a dual window Konquerer file browser open, clicked the directory and
hit delete, but for some reason it deleted my actual home/Phil dir and not
the windows one. So I have deleted all my email's, all my progs, settings
and everything else, I copied across the one i had tried to copy and got
some of my settings back, but not many, and have managed to get it to look
like i had except i still have to set up some mailboxes, but i have still
 lost all the email's.

To cut a long story into a short question, is there such a thing as an
undelete command which will look for the mailboxes and see if i can salvage
it? The machine has been rebooted since this happened.

Who ever said backing up was a method of keeping your data safe? It would
have been safer if i had just left the bloody stuff alone! :)
