I don't know what you're suggesting here, wrt looking at the source "one by
one" ... if you download
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v2.2/linux-2.2.21.tar.gz and untar it
somewhere temporary (as opposed to /usr/src) then you can browse through the
whole unpacked source tree if you wish ... hence the point of downloading
the source archive.
