yep IRC logs are perhaps an acquired taste

We _could_ revive an old idea and fork the mailing list so folk can opt in to 
whatever they want.

First thoughts are ---
eveybody gets Scottish-announce    <--our only condition of membership

opt-in to Scottish-advocacy-chat
