I logged in as root, then typed SAX2 and got the blank screen, managed to read the brief message this time ... "H = 67 kHz, V = 83 Hz, Input signal out of range." I also tried "Yast2" from the root prompt, with the same blank screen result. Once the screen goes blank, switching the monitor off, then on again, gets the message on the screen (briefly).
