Hi Bill,

For editing video there is Kino (http://www.kinodv.org/) and Cinelerra (http://cvs.cinelerra.org/about.php). For still image work (ie Photoshoppy stuff) there is GIMP (http://www.gimp.org) and a variant of GIMP called Cinepaint that is specifically geared towards moving image work (http://www.cinepaint.org/).

If you are interested in getting a bit of hands-on tuition in Kino and Cinelerra there will be a free workshop on them both in Glasgow next January at a place called 'Electron Club', a Linux-based public computing and electronics lab, in the CCA building on Sauchiehall Street - http://www.electronclub.org.
best wishes
Si

I'm an oap who has used Windows since its beginning (I hang my head in shame). Free from the constraints of other peoples bad habits I'm slowly weaning myself off MS and have migrated to openoffice and firefox and thunderbird but still on MS. I'd like to make the final move to Linux OS but currently use Adobe Premier and Photoshop for video work. Are there equivelents in open source? Or do I need to partition my hard drive to accomodate both MS and Linux OSs?
Thanks
Bill
