I have been using GPRS card from Nokia D211 with SuSE - but that was
about 4 years ago now. It was working great though. I do not have the
card any more, but Im sure you can get one from eBay pretty fast.

mobile phone?? Most phones have a client, and it will save a you a big
headache trying to get a wireless card running.
