Hi guys,

On the topic of ADSL, I have just looked at my router at home and see that I have the following modes available to me:

* RFC 1483 Routed
* RFC 1483 Bridged
* PPPoA Routed
* IPoA Routed
* PPPoE Routed
* PPPoE Routed with Pass-through.

Assuming they were all available (I have no idea, I'm using Lumison through work atm) which would be the best to go for and why? (Don't worry, I'm going to have a look myself right now as well - just wanted some opinions)

I always thought PPPoA was better than PPPoE, but I have no idea why I thought that.

Thanks,
Phil.

That's what I thought, I.e. that you might only get PPPoE when an ISP has say taken advantage of LLU. But I have now been told by two different people that PPPoE can work, and a quick Google seems to reinforce this:

The pages you cite are 3-5 years old! :) The whole thing about PPPoE being supported is ... weeeeeeeell, it *can* work, but PPPoA is the *supported* mode, so you should stick to that wherever possible.
