Hi guys I found this google group while doing a search on how to scrape google groups. I'm doing a post-grad thesis and need some data about a google group of interest to my studies.
I'm on a Mac, and I know it's complicated to get python and scrapy installed and running smoothly. The scrapy installation page doesn't deal with mac (only Win/Linux). So I'm hoping you guys can help me. Is it possible to find a simple way to get this data: 1. total threads 2. total posts 3. total views That's all I would need. I don't need to download posts or info ... I just need global submission data and views. I asked the admin and he says he doesn't have access to that info either. The group is here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!categories/minecraft-teachers It's a public group and I know the admin doesn't mind if I get that info (which I will post to the group anyway). Can anyone do a quick scrape for this on my behalf? Or, is there a simple way to get scrapy running long enough to pull this data from the group? Thanks in advance.
