Hi everyone,
Am trying to install 'scratchbox' and 'maemo' on 'fedora 8'(but got stuck
with some error messages).I am following the procedure given in
http://scratchbox.org/documentation/user/scratchbox-1.0/html/installdoc.html
This is what I have done till now--
1. Extracted scratchbox-core-1.0.8-i386.tar.tar to '/' (the folder is saved by
the name 'scratchbox' in '/')
2.Extracted contents of scratchbox-libs-1.0.8-i386.tar.tar to 'scratchbox'
(the folder in '/')
3.Extracted the devkits and toolchains inside /scratchbox.
FIRST QUERY: Do I need to extract all of 'toolchain' and 'devkit' packages
mentioned in the above website.
Since,the core and lib files have been marked 'required' and the 'development
kits' and 'toolchains' have been marked optional,can't I just extract one
toolchain and one devkit from the mentioned list.Or,do I have to extract all of
them inside /scratchbox.
4. In Terminal:
[r...@localhost]#cd /scratchbox
[r...@localhost]#/scratchbox/run_me_first.sh
Do you want to use sudo mode?[yes/no] (no) :- no
Give the name of the scratchbox group(sbox):- (I didn't enter any
name,clicked 'enter')
The group 'sbox' doesn't exist.Would you like to create the group 'sbox'?
[yes/no] (yes) :- yes
Creating group 'sbox'
Stopping scratchbox:umount,binfmt_misc
Starting scratchbox:binfmt_misc,mount
Now you should add one or more users with /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser
[r...@localhost]#/scratchbox/sbin/sbox_adduser muser
Add user 'muser' to group 'sbox'?[yes/no] (yes):-yes
Scratchbox user account for 'muser' added.

After completing this stage,I rebooted the system and logged in as 'muser'
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Then in Terminal window:
[mu...@localhost]# cd /scratchbox
[mu...@localhost]#su
Password: (entered password)
[mu...@localhost]# /scratchbox/sbin/sbox_ctl start
Starting scratchbox : binfmt_misc,mount
[mu...@localhost]#
SECOND QUERY: since it's showing 'Starting scratchbox',is my scratchbox
properly installed?

I don't know if it's the right list to ask the maemo query but if someone has
some idea please advice.
After completing the above procedures,I type the following in the command
terminal:
[mu...@localhost /]$ cd /root/Desktop/maemo1
[mu...@localhost maemo1]$ sh maemo-sdk-install_4.1.2.sh
This script will install maemo SDK 4.1.2 diablo release to your computer.

THIRD QUERY: I checked for /dev/null...there's no 'null' directory inside
/dev(dev is present inside '/' but can't find any 'null' directory)...so,can
anyone tell me what's the problem?
Am new to both scratchbox/maemo,so would appreciate it if you explain in simple
terms.
