I tried building my project in both ARM (QEMU) as well as 686 targets. I also compiled make 3.81 for both targets and tried to use that versionof make but still the same problem.
Any ideas on how I should proceed?

Are you using an i686 target, or some ARM target using sbrsh as the
CPU transparency method?
