Ubunty Edgy uses dash as /bin/sh, not bash like the earlier versions. In 0.9.8.5, /bin/sh is assumed to point to bash and the scripts contain some bashishms that won't work with dash.
This is fixed in the latest stable release (Apophis r4) of Scratchbox. There is also a partial fix in the head of the legacy branch source, but that may not fix everything...
