I've heard of the vertical split, but haven't used it; am still using
4.0.0 FAU.
As you might expect, these new features have known issues that need
resolving, and probably further testing to discover the unknown issues.

that I thought might be good to address for 4.1.0, at

I would think that one of the first things that needs to be done is a
code freeze in order to work on bugs only. Some features may also need
to be pushed to 4.1.1 or 4.2.0.
(The priorities and version-targetting is currently based purely on my
own largely uninformed assessment, since I'm obviously quite new to the
Screen development team.)
