Summary: Too easy to miss output notifications--keep status display Project: GNU Screen Submitted by: None Submitted on: Fri 19 Aug 2011 04:20:50 PM UTC Category: Feature Request Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any Release: None Fixed Release: None Planned Release: None Work Required: None _______________________________________________________ Details: With output monitoring, I can leave "finch" running in a window and get notification when messages arrive. But if I'm hacking at full speed, flipping screens, it's easy to miss the message (it comes in *just* as I flip screens). I've added %E to the hardstatus string, which expands to a string 0-9+ of window numbers ("+" if any window > 9 is included) which have had output notifications, but the window has not been the current window yet. So I can now add "%?Msgs<%E>%?" to my hardstatus string, and now my status bar shows there's output to see. And keeps showing it until I flip over to that window. Attached is my initial patch. I'm living with this proposed feature and patch, and will update if/when I come across any further issues. _______________________________________________________ File Attachments: ------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri 19 Aug 2011 04:20:50 PM UTC Name: pat.1 Size: 2kB By: None Implementation of suggested feature <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/download.php?file_id=23838> _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?34075> _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/
