Patch attached.
This was a relatively simple fix, however, this exposed UTF-8
corruption/alignment issues in the hardstatus rendering - raised and patched
separately in #68643.
Tests:
printf '\e]0;%s\e\\' "abc ó ą ⭍ 💩"
printf '\e]0;%s\e\\' "Fußgängerübergänge"
