I find zombie mode to be more than slightly annoying, although I can
see it has uses. I tend to open a number of shells, frequently and I
would never remember that I have 6 dead ones interspersed throughout
my windows before I hit ^Ac.
Perhaps once zombie becomes a per-window setting? ;-)

Try the zombie setting. I use this for a screen session I never
want to
close. Works great. And even helps sometimes, as you don't lose the
buffer if a command ends.
