I guess whether it's worth the money all depends on the quality of the annotations, then.. :-) As another poster stated, what's missing to jumpstart new users (in the few hours/days before they give up) is a document that describes the different things that you can do with screen and for each of them how you set it up .. helping them build their .screenrc as they go along and understanding what they're doing.
