In the event this wasn't answered as of yet, usually dictated by
defining the PS1 variable for sh/bash.

$ echo $PS1

Depending upon Linux distribution, common files or directories $PS1 is defined:

/etc/profile or /etc/profile.d sub-directories

/etc/bash sub-directories

$HOME/.bashrc
$HOME/.bash_profile
$HOME/.profile
