I use photoshop and convert art to grayscale then to bitmap and choose lpi
and type of dot you want (ellipse) and it converts it right in the software.

When you have a screen print job that involves tones and you need to print
out the colour separations, our office laser printer has a high DPI so you
cant  get the big dots needed for the ink to go through the mesh, how can i
get round  this without buying yet another machine, will appreciate any help
