Hi Steve,
I've been using 0.9.8 and text-chaining works fine for me. I usually
have my
content in text files, and use the "get text" function to populate the text
boxes, things may behave differently if you type it in directly.
Providing your first text box is overflowing, select the first text box, then
the chain icon, then the second text box, it should work.
Is scribus giving any error messages in the console when it crashes on you?
Try running it from a terminal, and post to us any error output - it sounds
like it might be a local build problem. Can you generate pdf's?
