Unless you are going to put this in your .$SHELLrc, this is not really any easier than typing ./configure --with-qt-dir=/usr/whereveritis . In any case, if other peoples Qt installations are like mine, the configure will still not find libqt-mt, as there is by default no symlink with the name "libqt-mt.so". This was the real problem when I tried to compile, and not a path issue.
