Just installed scribus 1.1.7 on debian sarge. Things seem to work
properly, but my preferences dialog window does not fully load. Other
dialogs off hand seem OK.

That is, the window comes up, and the window icons in upper left and
right corners are functional. However, within that window, there is no
text displayed, and generally no icons, These object are replaced by
generic squares. There are arrow icons, but they are non-functional.

For example, the radio buttons are just generic raised squares, which
do not work, and their labels are small blank squares rather than the
characters to make up the label strings.
