This is actually Fink's most FAQ ever, see Fink FAQ#9.11 "I installed Apple's X11 but Fink keeps asking to install XFree86." http://fink.sourceforge.net/faq/usage-packages.php?#apple-x11-wants-xfree86 In short: Fink thinks your X11 installation is incomplete, most probably because you didn't install the X11SDK.pkg that comes with the developer tools (Xcode) disk. -- Martin
