I'm able to retain control in Scribus while editing in the GIMP here. I just set the GIMP path to 'gimp-remote' instead of 'gimp'. The only issue is that Scribus doesn't notice when the pic has been updated and pick up the changes until you right click and choose 'update picture'. Unfortunately, the only way I can think of to have Scribus detect the changes is to have it poll - which is not a very nice solution at all. -- Craig Ringer
