I had some headaches upgrading to 1.2.1 - thought I'd drop a quick note with the solutions in case someone else had these problems.
When I tried to install 1.2.1 from the RPM, I got a failed dependency - one of them was "libpython". I was running Python 2.3.3 (comes with FC2, I believe). Anyways, when I upgraded to 2.3.4 (hoping that would fix it), I then started getting a failed dependency for "tkinter". When I tried to install it (yum install tkinter), it would fail because my python was too new. The solution - check your version of python (python -V) then go to www.rpmfind.net and search on tkinter and find the one with the same version number as your python. Once I d/l and installed python 2.3.4 and tkinter 2.3.4, Scribus 1.2.1 installed fine. We've been looking at using Scribus to layout books - I decided to put it to the test with some public domain material to see if Scribus could handle it. I have a 268 page, 6x9 trim, book layed out. Each chapter has its own linked text boxes. With 1.2.0 scrolling around was painfully slow. The performance improvements in 1.2.1 are excellent, making this type of work much easier. Keep up the good work. -Gerald
