[Scribus] How do you add photos to Scribus?

I am trying to add photos and art in jpg format to a document I'm 
creating, but I can't put the pix on the page. I have tried 
drag-and-drop and copy-and-paste, but the pix never appear in the 
document. I've hunted through the online helps and the Scribus menus 
with no success. I'm using Xandros 3, a version of Debian Linux.
