Consider it an OS extension, like a service pack or patch. MS clearly do. You can roll it back with system restore IIRC but that's about it. I wouldn't consider .net an issue, but if we only used it for an auto-updater it'd be very heavyweight. Since it's not cross-platform (no, Mono doesn't count at this point) it's not viable for use except in win32-only areas. Given that, I'm not in favour of it. -- Craig Ringer
