I don't think that OSS needs advertising at all. In my opinion this money should better be spent on developers (paying someone full-time, sponsoring meetings etc.) After all it's not about competing with someone but about creating something really useful. I don't care whether some graphics artist uses Adobe products. I care about a cool program to get my stuff done. And I like the possibility of telling people: "You don't need an illegal copy of xyz, use this free program instead." Bye, Tino.
