On a somewhat related matter, I have recently begun finding artifacts across 
the top of the page when viewing (on screen or printed) PDFs from scribus. I'm 
not at home right now, so I can't look back at my files to confirm or give a 
clearer view, but it is as though the tops of the highest ascenders in any font 
in the top line get duplicated across the page closer to the top than any 
printing should be. It looks like a row of dots corresponding to the tops of 
the characters.
