We have a 40-page paper with commercial ads in text and graphic boxes throughout, and the balance of the paper is a four-column layout where each column is linked to the next one, through all 40 pages.
This runs reasonably snappy right up until we put the text into the paper. When just the commercial ads are in and the text columns are empty, Scribus is fairly responsive. As soon as we put the text in, everything slows to a crawl. We have learned to not put the text in until the very latest possible moment. Other than that, does anyone have any suggestions for giving it a bit more oomph? It's running on an Intel dual-core CPU with 4gb of ram and Centos 5. I'm starting to think about cutting the paper in half -- first 20 pages, last 20 pages. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Melville Sask ~ http://www.melvilletheatre.com
