[Scribus] Importing eps and pdf

Hi,

I made my first steps with scribus. I tried to import pictures in a 
scribus document - and there I had a problem with eps-files.
I couldn't import any eps-file. I tried some different types (saved from 
photoshop and illustrator, cmyk and rgb) and the two different ways: 
image frame with strg-d or open with file>open.
I also couldn't import pdf-files.
This file types work well: jpg, png, tif and psd.
Is there any hint?
I worked on a windows XP with scribus 1.3.3.9
