<snip> using scribus 1.2, so I think a have the authority to say, that scribus is "basically usable". <snip>
Scribus is very usable rather than basically usable. I have used it for 3 and a half years now to produce our newsletter which runs at times to 20 plus A3 and A4 pages, not large but complex with significant quarterly calendars, images, text over text and now we are going to full colour for our email version. Sure there are minor things I would like changed -but- these will occur in subsequent versions. Much has bees said about hyphenation. I am uncertain about the real need for hyphenation. In all the newsletters I have done in Scribus none have used hyphenation, my sub editor will not permit it. She says it means that the sentence needs different wording or that particular line is slightly shorter than other lines or the layout design needs correcting. Either way it's fixable with the tools available. I think the thing to remember is that our software engineers and development teams do their best to meet a raft of demands so freezing I think, will not solve problems. Roger
