Many thanks to two of you -- indeed, I did see that instruction but performed that operation. You give me an idea (which I'll try out tonight when I get a moment): to check if as J. Culleton kindly suggested, perhaps I simply got an application which was not the right one. One other consideration is a certain diffidence between Intel-based Macs and Scribus and here I should go back and do some homework. Appreciate your contributions, both of you! P
